The Nature of Our Materials
Each Naksha Outpost object is carefully crafted with intention — combining premium full-grain leather and hand-finished metalwork shaped using centuries-old Indian techniques. These materials are selected not only for their beauty but for their ability to age gracefully and reveal a rich character over time.
We use full-grain leather from LWG-certified tanneries, ensuring durability and quality. The natural surface of this leather may display unique variations like wrinkles, veins, or minor marks, which are signs of authenticity rather than flaws. With continued use, the leather will soften and develop a patina — a gentle sheen that reflects your personal journey with the piece.
Caring for Your Leather
To preserve its appearance, avoid exposing the leather to excessive heat, direct sunlight, moisture, or humidity, as these elements can alter its texture and color. Should the leather come into contact with water, gently pat dry with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry naturally, away from heat sources. Leather can absorb oils, dyes, or fragrances, so keep your item away from cosmetics, perfumes, ink, and dark fabrics that may transfer color. Overloading your piece can distort its form, so it’s best to carry only what the design allows.
Caring for Your Metal Hardware
The hardware on each Naksha Outpost piece is handcrafted from recycled brass, plated and engraved by skilled artisans using age-old techniques. This metal is meant to wear beautifully, developing a natural patina over time that enhances its character. If you prefer to maintain its original shine, gently polish the surface with a soft dry cloth. Avoid contact with moisture, harsh chemicals, or abrasive materials to preserve its finish.
Storage
When not in use, store your object in the dust bag provided, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or damp conditions. Leather benefits from airflow, so avoid sealed plastic or non-breathable packaging. Fasten all hardware and gently stuff the bag to maintain its shape during storage.
Natural Ageing
We believe that signs of wear — a slight patina on the metal, a softening of the leather — are not flaws but reflections of life and use. These details tell your story as much as ours, making each Naksha Outpost piece truly personal.
