Origin

Naksha is an object-led label working in leather and metal through process-driven craft. Founded by a designer trained in Industrial Design at India’s National Institute of Design, the practice approaches material through engineered form rather than decorative styling. Forms are developed using precision metal techniques and treated as functional artifacts rather than accessories.

Techniques historically associated with ceremonial making shape the material. Surface marks remain as record. Through controlled surface treatment and finish, material is elevated beyond its origin. This resists standardisation and does not translate to repeatable manufacture.

Histories of direction and passage shape the objects. Movement logic informs scale, proportion, and attachment. The bow-and-arrow mark is retained as a directional device through cultural symbolism. Traditional forms are carried into industrial objects while retaining their provenance.
